Entropic Paradox Re: God's Existence
Here's a quick thought I had. I won't get detailed, but just provide a sketch, let me know your thoughts:
Entropy (the Second Law of Thermodynamics) favors disorder over order, destruction over creation.
God (the omnipotent creator of the Universe) favors order over disorder, creation over destruction.
These two principles seem, to me, to contradict one another. If God created the Universe, He is either creator of "Entropy" or is constrained by it.
1) God created the Universe, and with it Entropy, an aspect of creation which favors disorder over order. This makes destruction more probable, and, over time, guarantees the complete malfunction of all functioning systems. It makes "sin" (i.e., destruction in various forms) far easier than virtue. If God favors order and perfection, in the way we conceive it, why create a Universe which fosters disorder and chaos? It is contradictory to His nature.
But perhaps God is not responsible for Entropy, that is, the Universe could not have been created any other way:
2) God created the Universe, but was constrained by Entropy. But if God is omnipotent, He cannot be constrained by anything. It is also contradictory to His nature.
Conclusion: Entropy and God are mutually incomprehensible principles.
